Today, we not only crossed the Michigan/Wisconsin border, but we also moved onward from the potential of "from: me to:you // the selfless stranger project" to the reality of it.
The morning began with a leisurely hike to the Lower Falls of Tahquamenon State Park. Last night, Chris, our friendly neighbor, promised he would help us out with our project and be the first official "stranger" for the "from: me to: you" exchange so after the hike we chatted with him about our whole mindset, etc. If interested, see Chris's message here.
As we parted ways, we felt a sense of confidence knowing we could make a small impact with people along the way. Off we drove 300 miles into Wisconsin, passing the time by listening to a glorious channel known as Pop2K (greatest hits from the 2000's....some examples include: It's My Life, Señorita, and Lean Back).
The inspiration we felt earlier in the morning was only heightened when we came across a large sign leaning up against a slew of mailboxes. The sign read, "If you believe it then you can achieve it." We naturally saw this phrase fitting as we continue this theme of "graditude" so we immediately turned Frankie J and Rhonda around. In one of the mailboxes Hannah decided to place a handwritten note with a $20 bill attached. The note read, "we believe in you, thank you for the inspiration...use this money for good." We like to believe we continued onward with a smile a little bigger than before.
As night fell rather quickly and rain proved unforgiving, we made the executive decision to go out to eat, finding ourselves at a local favorite known as the Pub 'N Prime. After some fresh Perch and Caesar Salad, Hannah decided to embrace the situation at the Pub 'N Primes' Tiki Bar and approached a fun and energetic group of visitors from Illinois who were in town for the weekend. With open arms, they quickly invited us to share our story of postgraditude and the stranger project. We soon found ourselves in real and meaningful conversation...reminding us yet again that there is still some good in this world. Click here to see messages from our Tiki Bar companions.
Today, we find graditude in meeting Michelle & Patty (and friends), experiencing 25 cent showers at Lynn Ann's RV park, and grasping reassurance (mainly through others) that we are exactly where we are meant to be.
